From 1990 to 2012, researchers at Illinois State University surveyed
students in their sociology of human sexuality class about their first
time. Though the survey was voluntary, 96 percent of the students
completed the questionnaire, resulting in 5,769 participants between the
ages of 18 and 21.
They found that overall men were more likely than women to report anxiety and pleasure during their first time, while women were more likely than men to report feeling guilt over the experience. Unfortunately, this isn't incredibly surprising. Another study found that women's biggest sexual regret was losing their virginity to the wrong person. And it's a sad but true fact that women often have a harder time reaching climax than men do.
